Program – Kitchen Sink Part 1

Some classic movies integrate everything but the kitchen sink – music, dance, costumes, comedy, tragedy, action, yadda, yadda, yadda – for a total experience. Two examples, classic and recent:

Made during the German occupation of France during the Second World War, “Children of Paradise” (French) is a phenomenon bigger than the movie itself. It was supposed to be the French “Gone with the Wind”. I think it’s warmer and bigger than that.

“Kung Fu Hustle” (Cantonese / Mandarin) isn’t anyone’s answer to anything. It is big, funny, charming and filled with good natured cartoon-violence similar to “Shanghai Knights”. It has music, dance, yadda, yadda, yadda.
