Two movies about the colorful characters involved in the arts. Parents can watch these with creative or mature younger teens. Be prepared to talk about the satirical element in Crumb’s outrageous sexual and racial drawings.In “Crumb” we sense that some of Robert Crumb’s cartoons were more reportage than hallucination. After seeing his brothers and mother, I know Bob was the “normal” one of the family.
How can a nearly two-hour movie about a dinner conversation be so engrossing? If the topic is worth attention, as in “My Dinner with Andre”. It plays as a documentary. It isn’t. The creators scripted and filmed a movie. One of the great movies.
