There Will Be Blood

I guess the point here is that Paul Anderson brought back the old fashioned epic movie at a time when that sensibility and style was pretty much obsolete. Think of a quality movie in the past twenty or thirty years that deals with the domestic drama of those who create history.

Daniel Day-Lewis does a spot-on vocal impression of John Huston’s character from “Chinatown” (the postmodern answer to the epic feature). It’s compelling, it’s well-made, and it describes a time in Southern California history that had an impact on my family. My grandfather and his brother were among those people who moved their families to the tent cities in the Ventura and Kern counties.
