Heartbeat Detector (French)

I hesitate in recommending this because of an almost fatal philosophical flaw in the story, where a parallel is drawn between corporate downsizing and Nazi extermination. It's drawn with more subtlety than that, but for me that nearly ruined a thoughtful and well-made movie.
That said, I admired and enjoyed this movie.. The hero is a human resources professional (woo hoo!) who is drawn into a conflict between his CEO and a subordinate executive. The HR psychologist ends up in the place where strategic decisions butt up against human consequences.
French movie star Mathieu Amalric plays the protagonist, the other actors are excellent, and the movie is beautifully realized. You may not have such a visceral reaction to the one story element as I did, and if so, you will probably enjoy it even more. If you think the corporate/fascist link is too heavy handed, I can only ask you to put that aside in order to appreciate an excellent rental.
