Meandering, loopy fun.Based upon the Charles Willeford pulp novel, "Miami Blues" features a young Alec Baldwin as a violent ex-con with no impulse control. Fred Ward and Jennifer Jason Leigh co-star. You'll flinch while watching Baldwin's behavior, then bust a gut at whatever happens next.
"Raising Arizona" is the Coen brothers' second film. More of a comedy, and less disturbingly violent than "Miami Blues", it still makes you laugh and wince at the same time. [There should be a word for that phenomenon.]
