Boondock Saints

Andy says this is the twenty-something’s favorite. There seems to be a cult around the movie. Admittedly, the violent action is fun in its own way, and it’s cool to see Willem Dafoe get away with stealing every scene he’s in, BUT it doesn’t come together. It tries to be earnest, then layers the semi-comic “irony” thing on – ineffectively for me. Rent it and decide for yourself.
I would like someone who would recommend this to either: post a comment that explains the opening scene in the church, or write a new post under “Boondock Saints, Revisited” that makes a better case for the movie’s value.
