So said the old lady as she was told different species of birds attacked people in “The Birds”. Call them pests, call them little monsters. Conscript them for our wars. What if the kids and the animals got tired of the mistreatment? These two thrillers let you feel that what if.

Begin with “Who Can Kill a Child?” (Spanish / English). Kids – cute ones, sullen ones – acting like kids. Except, like, they kill grown-ups. It’s scary enough.
Finish with “The Birds”. You’ll be reminded that “Who Can Kill a Child?” has a couple of scenes that pay homage to it. You’ll yell at the screen. Your shoulders will tense up. It’s that good.
