This started as a DVD queue list for a friend.
It grew and grew and took on a life of its own. Oh well.

Burn After Reading
When this movie came out, it received cold to lukewarm reviews. Most of the critics complained that it wasn't funny. Odd, the audience in the theater I saw it in were howling. If you need your characters "likeable" don't rent it. It's funny and mean-spirited and snotty and a little sad and a little violent -- a Coen brothers comedy.
I don't know how I feel about the tame label. The violence was tamer than other Coen brothers comedies. The sensibility was as dark as any of their movies -- and maybe more nihilistic than most of them.
This is where we suggest DVDs that we have seen and liked or that friends /family may have missed. We try not to review them so much as give an impression, as if we were talking about the movie. Essentially, "You gotta watch this one." Programs are two DVDs that watched back-to-back seem to have greater resonance than watching them one at a time.

We really enjoyed it, but thought it was tame for Coen Brothers. Brad Pitt was great in it.
