Program – Perfection

Over the past 50 years, these have been honored as the two finest movies ever made. Get swept away in them.
In “The Rules of the Game” (French), the characters work hard to keep up appearances, maintain just enough secrecy around their affairs, buy the coolest toys, and wear the most beautiful dresses, even select the “right” lipstick colors. They are exhausted by being beautiful, rich and French. The movie starts as a romance, turns into a farce, and finishes as a tragedy.
“Citizen Kane” is, well, the “Citizen Kane” of movies – big, bombastic, and baroque. It set the standard for use of sound in movies for thirty years or more. Every scene shot, every casting decision, is flawless. Even when things appear dated, they’re still compelling.
Use these two movies as benchmarks for other DVDs you rent. Good standards to have.
