Apocalypse

What these movies have in common is that the characters really are thinking about the end of the world. Not “the last person on earth”, not “save the world from outside agents”, but the end. Each responds in his or her own way to their understanding of the impending apocalypse – in a personal way, not political or sociological. The stories and the actors – Richard Chamberlain, Mimi Rogers, and Jake Gyllenhaal – make these movies more immediate and in your face. They’re all worth your time, and different from your average movies.
